Plotline:

Deidara and Sasori make their way in Sunagakure searching for Gaara. Gaara fought Deidara alone while Sasori guarded the entrance. Deidara was intercepted by Gaara during the battle and managed to crush one of Deidara's arms using his Desert Coffin. Gaara's desire to defend Sunagakure proved to be his failure. When Deidara tried to destroy the village with his exploding clay, Gaara absorbed the blast by levitating the sand below. A direct attack by Deidara forced him to recall the sand which crushed Deidara's arm, which contained a small portion of exploding clay within. The clay then detonated, incapacitating Gaara.

Yet Gaara activated Shukaku, Shukaku rampaged through the city destroying ˝ of it in less than minutes. Sasori and Deidara left trying to grasp another opportunity. Gaara even fought his own brother and sister almost killing them in the process. Kankuro’s puppets were easily smashed and Temari’s wind was no match compared to Shukaku’s wind. At the end of the full moon night the sky seemed bloody red and millions of jounin lay dead covered with the blood of other fallen comrades. Gaara before leaving the city reverted back into his normal state knocked out and critically injured. Gaara slowly got up and walked into the mist disappearing into the sand.
